Types of Memphis Divorces

There are typically Three Types of Divorcing Couples here in Memphis.

Divorcing Couple #1 is the couple who can’t agree on anything. One or both partners in this relationship are generally extremely unhappy and their usually hasn’t been any peace in this household for quite a while. Arguments are generally an every day, and often multiple times a day, occurrence. These spouses may, or may not  have discussed getting a divorce, but if they have there was no way that they could come to an agreement on the division of their assets, alimony (aka spousal support), child custody, or child support. For these couples you know that divorce is going to be a fight.

Divorcing Couple #2 are getting a divorce here in Memphis because one of the spouses just found out that the other either:  a) was cheating on them with someone  b) has an addiction to something that creates a huge marital problem  or  c) has been lying about something; or all of the above. In this situation the spouse that had this occur to them is extremely upset an wants to get out of the marriage as soon as possible, whether or not the other spouse wants to stay married or not.

Divorcing Couple #3 have decided that getting married to each other was a mistake. They’ve usually only been married a short time and generally have only a few assets . This couple often describe themselves as “good friends but a bad married couple”. Both agree that they want a divorce and they already know who is going to get what assets or debts and how their property will be divided. They don’t want to argue and they just want to get the divorce behind them as soon as possible.
