Uncontested Divorces

Also known as no-fault or irreconcilable differences divorces, uncontested divorces are generally the most time effective and cost-saving option for couples going through a divorce. They require collaboration and agreement between the two parties – every issue must be reached by agreement, from alimony and child support to real estate division and visitation, and the signatures on the filed documents will reflect that attitude of cooperation.

If you are pursuing an uncontested divorce, your timeframe can be anywhere from 2.5 months to 6 months plus. It is all dependent upon how quickly you and your partner can agree on items, how quickly you get information to your lawyer for document drafting, how soon your lawyer is able to draft and file the appropriate documents, and whether or not minor children are involved (as the waiting period for divorces with minor children is a month longer than without).

Because we offer our uncontested divorces to you at a flat fee we require payment in full before the documents can be filed, but offer you flexibility in how that payment reaches us. We work with you to reach a payment schedule that works for you and your budget, but always want to keep you aware of the extended timeline that will arise the longer it takes for payment to be made in full.

When you have decided to get an amicable or simple divorce an uncontested divorce is likely your best option. Working to reach agreement quickly and calmly will result in a finalized divorce in the shortest amount of time and for the least cost to all parties.
